So, being the plant lover that I am, I decided to force some bulbs this winter. I thought that I would share my results. I refrigerated hyacinth bulbs and crocus bulbs for 6-8 weeks, them plopped them into containers with some glass beads to hold their roots down, added water(changed frequently), and watched them grow. It took them about 6 weeks to bloom. The wait was worth it! The hyacinths are in full bloom. The crocus have yet to bloom. And the girl and lamb salt and pepper shakers are one of my favorites in my collection. I think they scream" Come on Springtime!" I kind of took them from my Mom who took them from my Grandmother. Don't they look great on my table though?
